I’m Kareem Hepburn.
I build software and help people understand and improve the systems they work with.
I enjoy examining existing implementations and tools, understanding how they work, and remaking them through my own understanding. That’s the idea behind neumachen.
I’m available for technical advice and hands-on engineering.
Work with me
I help you understand existing systems, work through difficult technical problems, and turn ideas into working software.
- Understand what you have
- Review an implementation, investigate a stubborn problem, or work out where a change would make the most difference.
- Improve what’s already there
- Simplify software, improve observability, and make applications easier to build, deploy, and maintain.
- Build what’s missing
- Develop a service, tool, API, or integration around a clear need, including software that puts AI to practical use.
I work across languages, most often in Go, Erlang, and Rust, with Ruby and Python also in the mix. My experience includes Kubernetes, databases with a particular focus on PostgreSQL, telemetry and observability, and OpenAPI specifications.
CI/CD is one of my areas of expertise. I build and improve delivery pipelines, with experience across GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Concourse, Drone, Harness, and Jenkins.
I use AI in my own development workflow and can help you build tools and integrations around it.
Tell me what you’re working on, what’s getting in the way, or what you’d like to build.
Writing
A home for my writing: technical articles, ponderings, prose, poetry, and whatever else I feel like writing.
AI as a tool. You can outsource your thinking to AI, but never your understanding.
